This gallery contains works done at the beginning of my pictorial activity. These works were realized both in Cividale del Friuli, where during the fifties I used to hang around with the numerous painters living in that small town, and in Mogadishu (Somalia), where in the first half of the sixties I spent my late teens continuing my stylistic research.
These works, painted in Cividale del Friuli, already show a deep attraction for subjects made of, or representable by, intricacies, ramifications, tangs of lines: bushes, brambles, trees and branches, fishing nets, leafless vines, dry stone walls …
Drawings, studies, paintings done in Mogadishu in which the graphic and pictorial research covers all the usual subjects of painting – human figure, portrait, nude, landscape, still life – but the interest in tangles of bushes, which widely populate the Somali brush, remains and, indeed, grows larger.
